Vilafranca del Penedès is the capital of Alt Penedès and is the Capital of Wine. It is one of the most important medium-sized cities in Catalonia due to its strategic location, good communications and the fact that it is the capital of a region, Alt Penedès, with a strong wine-producing tradition.

Vilafranca breathes today, eight centuries after its foundation, an air of medieval nobility around its Gothic quarter. Wine culture is present in all kinds of manifestations: architecture, industry, gastronomy and cultural activities.
